Janine Lauder, a New York native, has a passion for fashion and art. After moving to sunny Southern California, she found her calling in providing beauty through hair design and fine art production. Janine has successfully integrated her education, career, and teaching experience to enhance the aesthetics of cosmetology. DEVACURL ADVANCED STYLIST
Janine, the owner of a salon, began her journey with curly hair in 2009 when a stylist who worked for her salon wanted to sell the DevaCurl product line. After the stylist moved away, Janine found herself with shelves of DevaCurl products. Without understanding curly hair, she had to learn more about this product line and the curly hair community.
Her life-changing moment came when she attended her very first class with Lorraine Massey, the founder of DevaCurl. She heard stories and saw how the curly community was underserved. She saw how curly clients were often shamed and traumatized by stylists who didn't understand how to work with curly hair. This experience fueled her passion to address this exclusion, and she continued taking classes at the DevaCurl Academy in NYC from 2011-2019 and continues to learn all things curly at every opportunity.
As a sculptor, Janine sees curly haircutting as a sculptural practice, suggesting that her art walks about the planet rather than hanging on a wall.
HAIR EXTENSION ARTIST
Janine is an experienced hair extension specialist who helps clients with fine, thin hair or mild hair loss issues. COLOR
Janine prefers Schwarzkopf Professional Color and has attended advanced seminars in Los Angeles and New York City. Her education in the arts and understanding of theoretical and chemical color knowledge make her an expert in hair color. She believes that hair color should be an essential part of a client's physical appearance, taking into account their skin tone, eye color, and facial shape to create a personalized and beautiful look that reflects their unique style.
